OGGI's faucet mat is made from diatomite, a natural stone formed from the fossilized shells of tiny aquatic organisms called diatoms. Under a microscope it looks like a honeycomb of microscopic pores, and those pores are the whole trick: splashes and drips soak in almost on contact, then evaporate on their own within minutes. No towel required.

It sits around the base of your faucet, right where water collects most. At 23.5 inches long and a slim 3.75 inches wide, it covers the whole stretch behind most kitchen sinks, with room on either side for a soap pump, a scrub brush, or a sponge that would otherwise sit in its own little pond. Unlike fabric mats that stay damp, the stone dries fast, so you skip the mildew smell and the mineral spots.

It also does quiet work as a countertop protector, keeping rust rings from shaving cream cans and scratches from soap bottles off your stone, laminate, or wood. Diatomite is a hard, rigid stone, so it can't be trimmed to fit. Measure the space around your faucet before you buy to make sure it won't cover sink buttons or a soap dispenser.
