Berry + Basil's French Boule Mix

A crackling, deep-golden crust that tugs back when you tear into it, and a moist, chewy crumb inside. Plus the smell of yeast bread filling the whole house.

The details

This old-world loaf is an award-winning mix from our partners at Dr. Pete's Gourmet Foods, handcrafted in small batches in Ailey, Georgia, and we were proud to put our name on it.

The method is almost suspiciously easy. Add water, stir until a sticky dough forms, cover the bowl, and walk away for 12 hours. No kneading, no punching down, no babysitting. Time does the work. Then bake it at 450°F in a covered, oven-safe pot, where the trapped steam gives you that bakery-style crust.

The long rest makes it easy to plan around. Stir it up at night and bake it in the morning, or mix it before work and have fresh bread with dinner.

Why we love it at Berry + Basil

  • Good enough that we put our own name on it
  • An award winner, recognized with a gold medal for gourmet foods
  • Just add water, with no kneading or shaping
  • Long, hands-off rise builds real flavor and a chewy crumb
  • Covered-pot baking gives a crackly, bakery-style crust
  • Handcrafted in small batches in Ailey, Georgia, by our partners at Dr. Pete's
  • A perfect excuse to use that Dutch oven or covered baker

Use it for

Sunday dinner, dunking in soup or stew, a cheese and charcuterie spread, morning toast with good butter and jam, homemade croutons from the last few slices, and a gift paired with a bread knife or Dutch oven.
