The details

Like its stainless steel sibling, the Smood Lite works on a conical spring: push down and the coil flattens, forcing potato through the thin gaps between its rings for even, lump-free mash in a single press. The spring absorbs the downward force as it compresses, which spares your wrist the workout a flat-plate masher demands.

Here the coils are nylon and the multi-grip handle is polypropylene, bringing the whole tool to a remarkable 0.15 pounds — you barely feel it in hand. The nylon coils are completely safe on nonstick cookware, so you can mash right in the pot without a second thought.

It's 10.6 inches long, dishwasher safe, BPA-free, and made from FDA and LFGB-approved materials, with nylon heat resistant to 480°F.
