It holds 8 ounces, which means two standard sticks, a block of European butter like Kerrygold, Plugrá, or Président, or a brick of cream cheese. The footprint is small, about 9 by 5.5 inches, so it doesn't hog counter space.

It's made of BPA-free plastic that's virtually shatterproof. Keep it on the counter for spreadable butter, or in the fridge if you prefer. Unlike glass or ceramic, the lid won't stick shut when the butter firms up. A matching spreader rests in a cradle on the front, and a hidden edge inside lets you scrape the knife clean.
